Executive Proclamation
State of South Dakota
Office of the Governor
Whereas, Natural disasters, epidemics and other major emergencies can and do happen. As responsible citizens and family members, South Dakotans need to be prepared at home, at work, anywhere; and,
Whereas, It is vital that all South Dakotans take steps to prepare for emergencies at home, work or school so they can help responders who are tasked with helping them to do their best; and
Whereas, bReady Day was created to encourage individuals to have an emergency bReady kit, make a family emergency plan and learn more about the different threats that may affect them, and to encourage organizations and businesses to reach out and find ways to plan for cooperation in times of crisis; and,
Whereas, The bReady campaign offers a variety of ways for citizens to learn more about emergency preparedness, including the bReady Web site, www.bReadySD.com, public service announcements about the bReady program on television, radio and newspapers, an information booth at the South Dakota State Fair, as well as other educational opportunities and public throughout the year; and,
Now, Therefore, I, M. Michael Rounds, Governor of the state of South Dakota, do hereby proclaim August 31,2007, as
bReady Day
in South Dakota and I encourage all citizens to be prepared to care for each other in times of emergency and, in making these plans and carrying them out, create a greater sense of security and interdependence that can see us through difficult times.
